Happy New Year!

Dear Friends

A very Happy New Year! I hope that you’ve all had a restful and happy holiday period. The rest of this academic year is going to be a busy one for the Women’s Campaign, with at least a couple of events being organized for each month, either by the Committee or external groups. Here’s what’s coming up.

Monday, January 14th
Banner-making in preparation for the upcoming Alliance of Pro-Life Students’ launch party. Event is being organized by the London Feminists Societies’ Network, and is being held at Birkbeck. Materials provided, just bring creativity and a snack to share if you can.

Time: 6pm onwards (I’ll be there from 7.45, so don’t worry if you can’t come until later).

Wednesday, January 16th
Posh-Party-Picket for Choice
Join the London Feminists Societies’ Network, Abortion Rights, BPCA and others in picketing the launch party of the Alliance of Pro-Life Students. The groups are meeting outside the hotel “ready to greet them as a united diverse group of pro-choice activists and supporters. Dress up to show them we’re onto them, dress down to remind them what real life is like, or just turn up and stand up for our rights.” Bring your placards!

Friday, February 1st
Screening of the documentary Miss Representation, a film that show how the media’s misrepresentations of women has led to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence.

Time – 7.30pm

Walking Tour of Bloomsbury
This will be a tour led by the Women’s Campaign! We will design the route as a group; those wanting to lead will choose part of the route and do the appropriate research, for example Millicent Fawcett’s house in Gower St. All are welcome to join us! More info. and a planning meeting to come!

We also have a couple of events that are being co-organized with other societies coming up. Again, more info. to come.
