International Women’s Day events

In honour of International Women’s Day, the Women’s Campaign and the Students’ Union Enterprise Network are co-hosting ‘Women in Enterprise’. We will be joined by the following inspirational speakers who will talk about their experiences in enterprise and answer your questions:


Amanda Jones – Social entrepreneur and winner of a Cosmopolitan magazine ‘Woman of the Year’ award, Amanda has also won investment from Dragon’s Den investors and runs a whole spectrum of social enterprises.

Jessica Rose – Birkbeck Student, and winner of NatWest everywoman Awards 2012, Jessica is currently director of Europe’s largest Jewellery training centre.

There will also be an opportunity for semi-structured networking and to think about developing your own entrepreneurial ideas over wine and nibbles. Everyone welcome! This event is FREE and includes wine and nibbles.

Earlier in the day, we have been invited to Camden Council’s International Women’s Day event. The afternoon, hosted by Councillor Sarah Hayward, the Leader of the Council, will include lunch, workshops and speeches by three inspirational women:  Kirin Saeed, Lynne Parker and Dame Gail Rebuck.

Lastly, following our fantastic banner making session on Monday for Million Women Rise, we will be joining the march this Saturday! Whether you made a banner or not, do join us! The general meeting place is Oxford St., outside Selfridges, at 12pm, setting off at 1pm. Screening of ‘Lady of No Fear’

Room 109, 30 Russell Square

Co-organized with Birkbeck’s Amnesty International Society.

This 2010 documentary offers an in-depth portrait of Burmese democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi. A tribute to an inspiring leader whose commitment to non-violent resistance has remained unwavering, despite many personal sacrifices.
